Judy Lewis

Judy Lewis is known around the world as the #1 most in-demand Israeli Jazz artist. In her 8 short years in Jazz (after leaving an illustrious 18 year career as a classical pianist) Judy Lewis has produced and released 4 albums of original Jazz music, the last of which was ranked #6 in the “Critic’s Choice Top ten Jazz Albums of the Year” by New York Times critic Stuart Nicholson.

As a newcomer to Jazz 8 years ago, Judy started on the usual path with Bebop and more traditional mainstream styles, but her passion for Rock music and deep love for classical music soon got the better of her! As a result of combining those influences in her writing and playing she has succeeded in creating a truly unique and innovative contemporary Jazz sound, one that has been described by The Guardian UK as “no clone of anybody else”.

In this new innovative duo project, Two On the Horizon, Judy joins forces with 18 year old blind guitar prodigy Orr Didi. Each with their own distinctive style and eclectic influences, from Jazz to Progressive Rock, this dynamic pair of artists bring a unique new sound to the duo genre. By creating layers of interweaving melodies and freely interchanging the conventional roles of their instruments they completely exploit the possibilities of this exciting combination. With the energy of Rock music and the nuances of acoustic Jazz, they move effortlessly between delicately intimate ballads and wild rhythmic pandemonium. This show is sure to stop your breath at least a few times!

Orr Didi discovered the guitar only 4 years ago but to see him play you would think that he most certainly was born with a guitar in his hands. Within a year of beginning to play he was already recognized as a virtuoso by the local Israeli media. Orr, born 90% vision impaired, has developed his own unique approach to guitar technique and composition, an approach which prompted the leading Israeli national newspaper to say of him…”You see great guitarists everyday. But not like this!”
